1. Silicon brick
Silica brick is the most used and important brick in float glass melting kilns. For large-scale melting kilns, silicon bricks are mainly used in the melting department and the working department of the kiln roof, the breast wall and the front and rear end walls, the regenerator roof and the upper partition wall of the regenerator.
The SiO2 content of high-grade products of silica bricks is 96-98%. It is an acidic refractory; its density is 2.35 to 2.38g/cm3, and silica bricks have high high high temperature structural strength, such as high softening temperature under load (1640-1700 ° C) and low creep rate, and do not reduce the structural strength of the kiln roof except for very slight erosion after absorbing a small amount of alkali components. The main disadvantage of silica bricks is their low thermal shock resistance.
Silica bricks for glass kilns have the following characteristics:
A. The high temperature volume of the silicon brick is stable, and the furnace body will not change due to temperature fluctuations: the glass melting kiln can keep the furnace body without deformation at 1600 ° C, and the structure is stable.
B. The silicon brick is slightly polluted to the glass liquid: The main component of the silicon brick is SiO2. If there are blocks or surface droplets during use, it will not affect the quality of the glass liquid.
C. Chemical erosion resistance of silicon bricks: The silicon bricks of the superstructure are eroded by the gas volatilized by R2O in the glass mix, and a smooth metamorphic layer is formed on the surface, which reduces the erosion rate and plays a protective role.
D. Silica bricks have low bulk density: they can reduce the weight of the furnace.
